Newest Google update to help those with mobile friendly websites
Google recently unveiled a new plan to make the web even more mobile friendly. According to the announcement, mobile–friendly websites will achieve higher search rankings conducted on mobile devices. If someone searches for keywords relevant to your business on their smartphone or tablet and your website is designed to accommodate their device, your ranking will be higher than websites without a mobile–friendly site. After all, a great website deserves to be properly viewable by any mobile device.
IPiece Websites is committed to building great looking websites which operate flawlessly on any mobile device. Our use of responsive design practices and other mobile–friendly layouts means screen size is no longer a problem. We offer accessibility on all mobile platforms such as your smart phone and tablet no matter what the make or manufacturer.
According to Google,
Getting good, relevant answers when you search shouldn’t depend on what device you’re using. You should get the best answer possible, whether you’re on a phone, desktop or tablet. Last year, we started using mobile friendly as a ranking signal on mobile searches. Today we’re announcing that beginning in May, we’ll start rolling out an update to mobile search results that increases the effect of the ranking signal to help our users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile–friendly.
Remember, the intent of the search query is still a very strong signal — so even if a page with high quality content is not mobile–friendly, it could still rank well if it has great, relevant content. A mobile–friendly website simply gives you an edge.
