Google renames Webmaster Tools
Yesterday Google officially renamed Google Webmaster Tools to Google Search Console.
After ten years running the web designer’s toolbox under “Webmaster Tools,” Google aims to better represent its users– from hobbyists to expert web designers– with the all–inclusive “Search Console” title.
As Google published the rebranding announcement, “We have all kinds of Webmaster Tools fans … [T]o make sure that our product includes everyone who cares about Search, we’ve decided to rebrand Google Webmaster Tools as Google Search Console.”
Other than the name change and the new logo above, Google Search Console and Google Webmaster Tools are identical. The complete updated branding is scheduled to take place in coming weeks.
